Uirlis builds software for pottery studios and the makers inside them.

Uirlis is Irish for tool. It sounds roughly like "OOR-lish."

A good tool is quiet, well-made, and shaped by the hand that uses it. It does not demand attention. That is the standard we hold the software to.

Most pottery studios run on five to seven disconnected things: a spreadsheet for members, a scheduling app for classes, a clipboard by the kiln, a payment processor, a group chat, and one person's memory. None of it talks to each other. The person holding it together is usually a working potter who would rather be throwing.

Makerhearth was built to replace all of it, by someone who has sat in those studio meetings. It handles memberships, class scheduling, studio time, firing, private lessons, events, gallery sales, and payroll in one place.

Three things in it exist nowhere else we have found.

Studio time that bills itself. Members check in and check out. The system bills to the half hour. Nobody reconstructs a month of sign-in sheets at the end of the month.

Classes that keep one roster. A six-week class is one class with one roster, not six separate events that staff re-copy student lists into. Add a student in week three and they are on the list for weeks four through six.

Firing billed by volume, with a real ledger. Work is measured by the cubic inch and charged against a credit balance. A piece that cracks in the kiln does not get billed. The credit goes back.

Makerhearth is the studio platform. It is feature-complete and opening to its first studios now.

Makerfolio is a portfolio and shop for individual makers. The hosted edition is live at makerfolio.art. A free, self-hostable edition is in progress.

MyPotteryStudio is a personal app for potters: clay bodies, glaze recipes, kiln logs, pieces, commissions. It runs offline on iOS and Android and is in beta.

Each one stands on its own. Together they cover a maker's whole working life, from the piece on the wheel to the studio that fired it.

Uirlis is bootstrapped, independent, and owned entirely by its founder. There is no outside capital and no pressure to grow faster than the software can bear.

That shapes the product in ways worth stating plainly. We do not sell or broker your data. We do not run ads. Your records are exportable, because software you cannot leave is not software you chose. We ship slowly enough to get it right, and we support what we ship.

The platform is built module-first, so the same core that runs a pottery studio can run glass, wood, fiber, and metal studios later. That work is planned, not promised.

Uirlis LLC was founded by Cynthia Brown in Gladstone, Missouri, in the Kansas City metro. She is a solo technical founder, a potter, and a board member at a community clay studio. She wrote the code.
